  • WHAT ARE YOUR FEES?
    Individual virtual sessions are $150 per 50 minute appointment. Payment is due at the end of each session by e-transfer or credit card. A receipt will be issued to you via email at the end of the session. Many benefits plans cover the cost (or a portion) of therapy with a Registered Social Worker (MSW, RSW). Contact your benefits provider or human resources department for more information on your coverage, including benefits renewal date and total cost covered. You also have the ability to claim clinical services provided by social workers on your income tax through the Medical Expense Tax Credit (METC).
  • HOW IS PAYMENT HANDLED?
    Payment is required at the end of each counselling session either by e-transfer or credit card. A credit card is required to be on file to confirm your appointment using the secure Jane platform.
  • IS COUNSELLING COVERED UNDER MY BENEFITS PLAN?
    Most insurance providers cover a portion of counselling services with a Registered Social Worker. Check with your provider for further details regarding the type of counselling services covered, the amount covered and benefit renewal date. You will be given a receipt to submit to your insurance provider following payment. Please note, therapy services with a Registered Social Worker are approved for a medical expense tax credit and the fees for therapy can be deducted on your income tax return.
  • HOW IS MY PRIVATE HEALTH INFORMATION STORED?
    Laura Lancia Counselling complies with the Personal Privacy and Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA https://www.priv.gc.ca/en/) and will not sell or disclose your personal information. All bookings, billing and video sessions (PIPEDA & HIPAA compliant) are handled using our online Jane account at https://lauralanciacounselling.janeapp.com
  • WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
    In order to maximize the effectiveness of therapy, clients should make counselling a priority and are encouraged to avoid cancelling sessions except in the case of illness or emergencies. Session fees will be applied for appointments cancelled less than 24 hours in advance. There is an understanding that unforeseen circumstances occur and in these particular situations waiving the fee will be considered.
  • HOW OFTEN WILL I NEED TO ATTEND COUNSELLING AND HOW LONG CAN I EXPECT TREATMENT TO LAST?
    This can range greatly depending on your individual needs and treatment goals. Your first session will be used to discuss what has led you to seek therapy, your therapy goals, and develop a treatment plan that will work for you. It is typically recommended to attend counselling on a weekly basis and slowly reduce frequency as you begin to progress in treatment. I will work with you to develop a flexible plan to meet your availability and budget.
  • WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AT MY FIRST SESSION?
    The first session will include an intake assessment which will help me to get to know you and your goals for therapy, the setting of a treatment plan, and a review of logistics including confidentiality, storing of personal information, and the cancellation policy.
  • DO YOU PROVIDE CRISIS SERVICES?
    Please note I do not provide crisis services. Should you find yourself requiring immediate help outside of our session please call the appropriate crisis service hotline in your area (HERE24/7), contact 911, or attend your local Emergency Department.
  • WHAT IS YOUR POLICY ON CONFIDENTIALITY?
    As part of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers I am bound by the guidelines of confidentiality. Any information shared in session will be kept confidential. There are limits to confidentiality. These include: disclosure of the intent to harm yourself or someone else, the abuse or neglect of a child under the age of 16 or abuse by a licensed professional, or subpoena of documentation by the courts. A release of information to other care providers may be requested and will only be done so with your signed consent.
